Art & Sci Clothing Update: Deel Vest and Chupa
Tonight, I started the process for my first hand made garb, a Mongolian deel vest. Since I didn't have a pattern, I made one, which would be great if I was about 4 times smaller, lol, so I made a bigger version. The gold will be the liner and the patterned cloth the outside.
First panel of yellow interior is stitched. Need to repeat the action 2 more times, then stitch them together and see if they fit correctly. If they do, I can repeat on the patterned cloth.
Ended up purchasing a chupa to make sure I had enough clothing for an upcoming event. I now have:
- plain blue long tunic/dress and dark blue tights,
- taupe Indian kuta and pants,
- gold underdress and beige/pink sideless surcoat,
- blue yakuta,
- red dress and turquoise chupa, and
- white linen pirate top and black and white linen pants.
Once I'm done making the vests, I'll have the two of them and then I'll work on two longer deels. The vests will go over the tunic really nicely once they're done. It's a weird collection of clothing, I will admit. Honestly, I'd like to end up with just the deels/chupas, but for now, as long as I have 3-4 outfits that I can wear during the heat of Florida summers, I'll be okay.
